Musical notes
Level 1
Brain gym

It is useful to practice the first letters of the ABC backwards. It works like this:

Level 1
Quiz and game

In Pimba you can do a Game and a Quiz. Before you start you have to choose a name. That could be your own name, but you can also come up with something completely different.

Level 2
The staff

Music is written with notes on a staff. A staff consists of 5 lines and 4 spaces.

Level 2
The treble clef

On the left side of the staff is a 𝄞 treble clef. The treble clef is also called a G clef. It's actually an old-fashioned letter G with lots of curls.

Level 2
High and low

A lower a note on the staff, must be played lower on the keyboard. A higher note on the staff must be played higher on the keyboard.

Level 2
Note table

Here’s an overview of all notes on the staff. In this way the white keys are written on the staff.

Level 2
A special note

Sometimes you need a key that doesn’t fit in the staff. The low C is an example of this situation. This note is also called the Central C. You’ll need this note in many songs when you first start playing piano.

Level 2
Single notes

Here are some more examples of single notes on the staff.

Level 2
Higher and lower

It is good to know the name of a note, but often it’s more useful to know whether notes go up or down.
