Sometimes it’s indicated with which finger you should press a key. In musical language this is called fingering. Each finger has its own number.

Here you see which number belongs to which finger. If a letter has a 1 next to it, then play that key with your thumb. Is there a 2? Then use your index finger, and so on. Sometimes you can fit your fingers exactly above a group of 5 white keys on a row. It’s good practice to keep your hand close to a group of 5 keys.

You won't see  a fingering for every key you play. Often it speaks for itself, and only tips for difficult situations arse given. Often there’s more than one good fingering. Make sure you can easily reach all keys. It’s best not to twist your wrist too much.  Always choose the fingering that suits you best!
